The limbs of the chocolate covered feminine picked a path among the dying emeralds. Cool zephyr tugged at the threads upon the sleek curvature, cord swayed about the hocks. Faint smile was upon the lips as ice blue mirrors were cast about the lands. Odette Islands was unlike any other land she had ever known. It's vast plains were filled to the brim with many equines, making Odette by far the most amazing lands she had ever seen. And she had definitely seen many lands on her journeys. Abandoned at birth she had been forced to take care of herself. She wasn't one to make friends easily, in fact most of her friends had been woodland creatures. Melancholy fell upon the slender form, oh how she missed her minuscule friends. Heavy sigh was thrust from the nostrils, thoughts swirling through the elegantly chiseled crania. Lips pursed in thought as she continued her journey through Winds. She missed her home terribly but she knew she could never go back. Not after what had happened. No. She was better off here in Odette, were her past could never catch up with her. Or could it? Was she truly free of the burdens in her past home? Was she finally free to start anew? All these questions buzzed in her mind, but she couldn't answer any of them. Soft sigh escaped the salmon lined nostrils. She was aware of a faint sensation upon her spinal, frightened she wheeled around but there was nothing behind her. There was no one. Heart raced as gaze surveyed the lands. It had begun to snow. She laughed quietly. It had only been snow, she had worked herself into a fright for nothing. Ice blue chasms twinkled with anticipation of what was to come. Thoughts drifted back to her past, long forgotten memories surfaced. One in particular stood out. It was the memory of her birth.
The lands of Ines were coated with darkness. The only source of light was the pale crescent high up in the blue yonder. Faint stars twinkled in the night. All was quiet, except for the faint chirps of the crickets. A piercing cry broke the hushed silence. The scream had come from the copper mare that lay upon the emeralds. Her coat was damp from sweat and her breath came in short pants. The contractions were getting worse, the pain was increasing. She winced, a soft moan floating from the lips. "Katara." The stallions voice broke through the silence. She didn't respond but instead kept on pushing. She knew it would be only a matter of moments before her child was born. "Push Katara." She inhaled the crisp night air and with one final push she felt something slide out. Breathing heavily she lay upon the ground. It was over. Thank God it was over. After a few short minutes of rest she got up, gaze drifting to the chocolate form of her newborn. Proud grin was present upon the mug, her child was beautiful. Velvet kissers lowered to gently nudge the minuscule frame of the foal. The babe stirred, long gawky limbs sought to raise the frame. She chuckled softly, and pressed her muzzle against the side of the babe. Once the chocolate foal had gained it's balance, it slowly and quite clumsily moved to it's mother's side. Slender lips searching for it's mother's teat, as hunger stabbed at the stomach. While her babe suckled happily, she noticed that it was a filly. Gaze left her child's body and moved to the iron grey stallion. "It's a girl." She said regretfully. She knew her Lord wouldn't approve. "Kill her." The words shocked the mare. What? Kill her own child? That was preposterous! She couldn't kill her baby. She wouldn't do it. "No!" The stallion lunged at her, enamels biting at her flank and then her boa. "Do it." There was no escaping it. Horror filled her eyes as she glanced from the stallion to her tiny babe. "Please, let her live. I'll abandon her if only you'll let her live." The stallion's lips pursed in thought. A silence settled over the scene and then finally he spoke. "Fine. She may live. But you know what you have to do." Crania dipped in a bow as he departed. Sad gaze drifted back to her foal who was now laying drowsily upon the sod. Tears formed in her eyes. "Your name shall be Elisa. Take care my sweet child." Then she turned on her heel and left. The young child still lay upon the ground, bewilderment present in her eyes.
Those had been our Queen's first arrival into the islands of Odette. Elisa did not know what the future held for her. She had no idea she would become the Queen of the lands that had brought so much peace to her troubled soul. From the time of her birth, Elisa's life had been pure hell. She pretty much raised herself and her only companions consisted of woodland creatures. For many years Elisa lived a life of solitude, a life she had become so accustomed to. Then on the day that marked her third year of life she meet a stallion named Keve. Not having been around others of her kind, Elisa feel head over heels for this stallion. Soon she was spending all her time with him, everything was going great. Until he suggested she come with him back to his homelands. She had been wary at first, but Keve could be very persuasive, and so she went. She had been frightened at the sight of all the equines, she wanted to turn and run. But Keve told her everything would be alright, and like a fool she believed him. A year passed and her life seemed to be looking brighter with each passing day. The horrible beging to her life no longer weighed heavily upon her shoulders. She had even made a few friends, her closet one beging a ebon mare by the name Sarian. Then one day her life came crashing down around her.
The faint sound of approaching hoof beats echoed through the silence. The slender mare wheeled around just as the charcoal stallion skidded to a halt. "I know about your little secret Keve." She said sourly, lips pursed in anger. Ice blue chasms locked onto the muscular form of the stallion that she loved. The stallion that had betrayed her trust and love. "What are you talking about? You don't know anything." He said, his voice matched her harsh tone. But even so his eyes portrayed fear. She laughed softly. "I know about you and Sarian." She said coolly, she smirked as she saw him begin to sweat. Good. Let him get all worked up. "How could you Keve? You're my mate. How dare sleep with Sarian of all people! She was my best friend. I loved you Keve. Just you wait until all your loyal subjects find out about your dirty little secret. Just wait until they find out how you slept around while I was pregnant." As she uttered her last words shock flickered across the stallion's features. He took a hesitant step to wards her. "You... you're pregnant?" He asked bewildered, crania dipped in a nod. He gasped, fumbling for words. "Elisa.. I... I didn't know. You never said anything. I'm sorry." She snorted, eyes narrowed to mere slits as she watched him. Sorry because I found out? Or sorry because I'm pregnant?" Tears welled in her eyes and she turned away. "You betrayed me, Keve. I can't ever forgive you. I just can't." He lunged at her suddenly, enamels clamping down upon the soft flesh of her throat. She felt him break the skin, felt the blood escape from her body. She wanted to scream, but nothing came out. He let go and backed up a few paces. Then he lunged at her again but this time turned, his titaniums meeting her side with such force that it caused her to stumble backward. "No one will ever know foolish girl. I'll make sure of that. Everyone will think you betrayed me. Just watch." He cackled and then wheeled around and raced off. She was left huddled on the ground, blood still pumping from her body. The only sound was that of her sobs.
That day had marked a new turning point in her life. She fled Keve's home and wounded up here in Odette. For many months she dwelled within a cave, until Spring came and the time for her foal to be born approached. She had so many plans for her little one, having forgot about Keve and her heartbreak. When the day came for her to give birth, she was frightened and overjoyed all at the same time. She labored for many hours until finally her child was born. But to her horror the child was dead, born a stillborn. She fled the safety of her cave and out into the lands. It seemed the King had fallen and the Queen was on her death bed. Everything had changed so rapidly, Elisa feared she would lose her precious home her in Odette. But one day she was summoned to the Queen's chambers were she was told of the secret location of the pool of Immortalilty. The Queen told her of how she wanted Elisa to take her place as Queen. Elisa was shocked and frightened. She couldn't be Queen! It all happened so fast, she became Immortal, the Queen died and she took her place. Most of the equines died off and others left. Pretty soon Odette Islands was a ghost town. That was until one day a stallion by the name of Iylis came. Elisa took a liking to him and made him King. But what Elisa never told him was that a while back she had a fling with a lone stallion and ended up getting pregnat. What would happen if Iylis found out about Elisa's secret? Will Odette Islands ever be restored to it's greatness or is it destined to perish? Only time will tell.
